Introduction

The name of this beer from Genys Brewing Co really confused me in the beginning. It is called Non Alco Sixth Month but on the can it also says Non Alco Šeštas Mėnuo. After reading a bit more on the can I realized it is a Lithuanian craft beer and the first name is the English name of the beer and the second name is simply the Lithuanian name of it. I think most people would not dare to pronounce the Lithuanian name so it is quite cool that they have an international name for it as well. I could not even imagine how people would pronounce some of the Finnish non-alcoholic beers or even Swedish ones.

I ordered this through the Alko webshop when I was in Finland and it cost me €3.89 for a 440ml can. It is a remake of an alcoholic beer with the same name. Genys Brewing is from Kaunas, Lithuania and they also have another alcohol-free craft beer called Non Alco Kalifornikacija/Non Alco Calfornication. It is an NA Pale that I have yet to try, but I hope that I will soon be able to get my hands on it.

Tasting Notes

I reviewed this beer in a batch with the Brewdog Punk Af and To Øl Implosion. I had the lowest expectations of this beer because I didn’t feel raspberry and mint would be to my taste. Actually I do enjoy raspberry beers, but mint – not so much.

However, this beer ended up outshining the other beers I tried the same night. It is not absolutely mind-blowing or anything I would drink a lot of – but I would definitely have another one at the right time. Raspberry and mint is simply nothing I could drink every day even if I enjoyed the combination..

This Lithuanian non-alcoholic beer has plenty of body and a thick mouthfeel which many NA beers struggle with. Apart from that, the main flavor is definitely raspberry but the mint is there nicely to balance it out and give the beer some complexity. It pours cloudy.

A really tasty beer and it might actually have been my first Lithuanian craft beer ever.

Genys Brewing Co – Non Alco Sixth Month Calories and Nutrition

I could not find the exact ABV of this beer but as it is a non-alcoholic beer it is certainly under 0.5 percent. The IBU is 10 which is somewhat expected from a non-hop-forward beer.

It has 30 kcal per 100 ml which means a can contains 132 kcal. It is not particularly low but still lower than a leaded beer.

The beer contains milk so it is not vegan and it does also not seem to be gluten-free.

Genys Brewing Co – Non Alco Sixth Month Rating

Non Alco Sixth Month by Genys Brewing Co is a refreshing surprise in the non-alcoholic beer category. Despite initial skepticism regarding the raspberry and mint combination, this Lithuanian craft beer provides a unique and enjoyable experience.

The beer has a full body and thick mouthfeel that many non-alcoholic beers lack, with the raspberry flavor taking center stage and the mint adding complexity and balance. The cloudy appearance adds to the overall charm of this non-alcoholic craft beer. While it may not be an everyday choice, it is certainly one to try for those seeking a different take on non-alcoholic beers.

At 37/50, it is a solid option for those seeking an alternative to traditional alcoholic beverages, with a distinct and memorable taste.
