Introduction
The Nittenauer Freie Liebe is a non-alcoholic craft beer from Germany. The brewery is from the German city of Nittenauer which I had never heard of before trying this beer.
The brewery is actually called Nittenauer Brauhaus and there is very little information about them in English. It seems like they have been around since 1996. Because of the lack of English information, I thought maybe it is quite a local brewery, but that doesn’t make sense because I found their non-alcoholic beer in Thailand. I actually manage to get my hands on it at Seabrew 2022 that I also wrote a recap of.
The Beer
Unfortunately, this is exactly what I don´t want in a non-alcoholic beer. The initial aroma is of sweet wort. I took my first sip and it tastes exactly as it smells. It pours semi-cloudy.
Basically, it tastes like beer before the yeast has been put in to produce alcohol. I sometimes call it barley porridge. It could be a decent taste if you just want some odd malt drink but it tastes nothing like beer.
It basically tastes like beer that has been stopped halfway through production. Maybe they are using the technique of arrested fermentation but if that makes beers taste like this I do not want to be a part of it.
I actually managed to finish the beer but several of my friends that tried it had to leave it half-full at their table. It is still surprising that the beer has gotten quite decent reviews online though. Anyways, it is not to my taste at all.
Nittenauer – Freie Liebe Calories and Nutrition
The beer has been brewed with Pilsener and Vienna Malts. The hops used are Lotus and Sultana. I could not find any information about the calories in Nittenauer Freie Liebe nor if it is vegan or gluten-free. It is most likely not gluten-free but possibly vegan.
ABV is 0.5%.

I would not give this beer points for many things. I can´t really figure out any positives except that I actually managed to drink it. Then again, I can drink most things so that is not a huge compliment. I would not get it again.
