Introduction
What caught my eye with the Very Small Moose stout was the video game-inspired artwork. The epic design was definitely one of the reasons I chose this beer.
Of course, collabs are also always fun. It´s a collaboration between Fierce Beer from Scotland and Mash Gang that also seem to be from Scotland. They vary between brewing their beers at Northern Monk in Leeds or at the Fierce Beer brewery in Aberdeen. Non-alcoholic craft beer is surprisingly popular in Scotland.
One fun thing we saw was that Mash Gang is calling themselves a phantom brewery. Technically it´s just a gypsy brewery but they decided to create their own cool term for it.
It seems it is a remake of the Very Big Moose that is a collaboration between Fierce Beer and Brewdog.
Tasting Notes
Now to the tasting of the Very Small Moose. With the first sip, some chocolatey notes hit. They linger around but at the same time, there is an underlying watery sensation. It’s not bad but it would be great if there was a bit more creaminess to the drinking sensation. They have not skimped out on the vanilla flavors and they are very prominent.
I actually drank the beer with some rye bread. Still got all the great flavors but it lost the thin mouth feel. It might be a good option to drink this beer with dinner.
Very Small Moose Calories and Nutrition
We could not find how many calories there are in the Very Small Moose beer. It seems a bit on the higher side but definitely lower than if it was a low alcohol craft beer or an imperial stout. It´s still a vegan stout though, which is nice.
ABV is 0.5% and the IBU is 10.
Very Small Moose Rating
It’s complex and the flavors are great but it is definitely best suited with food. It just lacks body and it would be really amazing if the mouthfeel was different. In general, it´s a tasty well-brewed beer though.
