Introduction
The Mikkeller – Non Alc Wheat Ale is a part of their series Drink’in The Sun. They have released a few beers under this name before with the first version being released in 2009.
Even if Mikkeller is a Danish craft beer brewer they have brewed this non-alcoholic beer in Belgium. It is an American-style wheat beer.
It is not as good as their Limbo Yuzu that I drank on the same day, but it is still tasty brew despite the balance being a bit off. Don´t forget to read my Limbo Yuzu Review for better Mikkeller NA beer option.
Tasting Notes
This beer smells quite nice. The aroma is very much of an IPA and is quite pleasant. I actually didn´t really realize at first it is a Wheat Ale.
It was when I took my first sip I realized it is not that fantastic. It is heavily hopped and you can definitely taste the hop bitterness. I still wonder if the no alcohol doesn’t make justice to the beer. The flavors are alright but with no alcohol or body, there’s nothing much to balance the bitterness.

One very positive thing about this beer is that is very low in calories. With only 48 kcal per can, it is one of the lowest-calorie NA beers we´ve reviewed. That makes 14 kcal per 100 ml.
This alcohol free beer is vegan but not gluten-free.

Mikkeller – Non Alc Wheat Ale Rating
I think they could have done a better job with this beer. It is not terrible by any means, just unbalanced. Also, I didn´t even realize it is a wheat beer until I read the label. The first few sips made me believe it was a heavily hopped IPA. The IBU is also very high for a wheat beer. Basically, high IBU and no alcohol is not always the best option.
Not terrible and has its charm, but the balance is off.
